The steel provided by SAIL comprises various products, including chequered plates, hot strip mill plates, mild steel plates, angles, and joists. These materials are essential for constructing temporary infrastructure to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims expected at the event.
Historical Contribution
SAIL has a history of supporting the Mahakumbh Mela, having previously supplied steel for the 2013 event. This ongoing involvement underscores the company’s commitment to facilitating large-scale public gatherings that hold cultural and religious significance.
Infrastructure Applications
The supplied steel will be utilized in building various temporary structures necessary for the event’s smooth operation. These include pontoon bridges, passageways, temporary steel bridges, substations, and flyovers. Key recipients of this steel supply are the Public Works Department (PWD), Uttar Pradesh State Bridges Corporation, the Electricity Board, and their respective contractors.
