
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated and laid the foundation for 37 public welfare projects in Ahmedabad, collectively valued at ₹6,510 crore. These initiatives span the Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, and Gandhinagar constituencies, underscoring a significant commitment to urban development and heritage conservation.
Key Projects and Initiatives
The event, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other state officials, featured the inauguration of 10 projects worth ₹950 crore and the foundation laying of 27 projects totaling ₹5,560 crore. Notable projects include:
- D-Cabin LC 241 Underpass: Aimed at enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion.
- Chenpur LC2 Underpass: Designed to improve connectivity and ease transportation.
- Drainage and Water Management Projects: Focused on upgrading infrastructure to address water management challenges.
Additionally, over 350 societies will benefit from the installation of percolation wells and rainwater drainage systems, promoting sustainable urban growth.
Sustainability and Social Welfare
Minister Shah emphasized the adoption of solar rooftops and water conservation measures to foster sustainable living. Under the Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana, symbolic milk distribution efforts aim to combat child malnutrition. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has also introduced cloth bags to reduce plastic usage, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability.
State Government’s Vision
Chief Minister Patel highlighted Gujarat’s ₹21,696 crore urban development budget, focusing on planned urbanization, clean energy initiatives, and the preservation of Ahmedabad’s status as a World Heritage City. The state’s vision includes slum rehabilitation, labor welfare centers, and modernized vegetable markets, aligning with goals for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
These initiatives reflect the government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for citizens while preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the region.
